Cleaning of Steel

We can perform multiple levels of clean ranging from removing wax, solvents and oils while leaving the paint intact, to a white blast level of clean that is free of all paint and rust.

The cleaning process you choose to remove these contaminants must consider the level of clean required, if the area is inhabited by workers or the public, is lead or asbestos involved, if containment is required, and lastly your budget. These decisions must be carefully considered before a process is chosen. Our team of experienced and trained staff can assist you in choosing the method of cleaning that best suits your needs.

Examples of Steel to be cleaned:

  • Structural steel
  • Pipe and tubing
  • Truck/trailer/equipment
  • Automotive
  • Tanks
  • Oilfield equipment
  • Rebar (exposed and concealed in concrete)

When it comes to cleaning Steel we offer the following cleaning methods:

  • Sandblasting
  • Wet Abrasive Blasting
  • Dry Ice Blasting

SANDBLASTING is used to clean and prepare surfaces for new coatings applications.  Some uses for it include rust removal, coatings removal, etching and profiling of surfaces for painting, etc. and involves the use of a pressurized blast pot, blast hose, and specialized nozzles to propel abrasive media at high velocity onto the surface to be cleaned. This process thoroughly removes the material without harming the substrate. We use different sized and shaped blast media based on the required cleaning application. We carefully choose our blast media based on their different densities, abrasives, and sizes such as sand, garnet, aluminum, glass bead, crushed recycled glass, etc.

The advantages of using Sandblasting:

  • Least expensive option
  • Most options for blasting media (sand, walnut, glass, garnet, steel shot etc.)
  • Quickest removal rate
  • Ability to achieve specific blast profiles for coating adhesion
  • On and Off-Site capabilities
  • Multiple lifting devices to load and unload pieces of all sizes
  • Large 5 acre fenced blasting area with enclosed blast tent for all weather conditions
  • 6000 square foot building
  • ISNetworld Contractor Member
  • Coatings application available to customer specifications

Wet Abrasive Blasting

like traditional sandblasting uses an abrasive media and compressed air to attain a desired finish on a chosen surface. However, unlike traditional sandblasting, water is introduced into the system to enhance the levels of surface finish that can be achieved. The benefit of including water is a much gentler blast with a smoother and more consistent finish.

In the hands of a skilled blast cleaning technician, Wet Abrasive Blasting can be aggressive enough to remove paint, coatings, and even adhesives or gentle and delicate enough to clean without damage to the coating.

Wet Abrasive Blasting Advantages:

  • 92% dust reduction over other abrasive blasting methods
  • Up to 10 times faster than manual cleaning
  • Uses less than 2 pints of water per minute
  • Chemical free
  • Removes oil, wax, solvents etc. from surface
  • Reduced containment and disposal costs
  • Environmentally friendly blast medias (recycled bottle glass)
  • Water encapsulated dust including lead and asbestos paints
  • Includes HoldTight102 in the water to remove salt and prevent flash rusting

Dry Ice Blasting

Is rapidly becoming the industry standard for restoration of historical brickwork, this powerful, efficient, and Environmentally Friendly Surface Restoration method removes paint, mold, smoke stains, soot, heavy soiling, and carbon build-up from any surface while bringing out the original, beautiful, and delicate finishes originally hand-crafted into the facades, entryways, walls, and ceilings of these beautiful, old historic structures.

The Advantages of Dry Ice Blast Cleaning

In the hands of a skilled blast cleaning technician, Dry Ice Blast Cleaning can be either aggressive enough to remove paint or delicate enough to protect even the most intricate work including electrical components, sensors, and plastics.

  • dry ice blasting does not scratch or stain the surface. Instead, it uncovers the underlying surface and restores it to its original beauty and detail.
  • Ice blast cleaning is easy to control and reaches the tightest cracks and corners without damaging surrounding objects.
  • Ice blasting is safe for the environment because it does not use dangerous chemicals or leave hazardous fumes behind.
  • and is safe for workers since it is non-flammable and non-conductive.
  • No secondary waste to clean up or dispose of after
  • Little to no containment is necessary, saving you money.
